Referral Process

Please be sure to register the referral prior to any communication with an agent or company.  Following is the basic information you need to place a referral with Referral Center:

  • Customer’s Name
  • Customer’s Address
  • Customer’s Phone Number
  • Customer Should Be Expecting A Call From An Agent
  • Broker Or Agent Preference (if applicable)

This preparation can make the referral process more efficient. Once you have gathered this basic information, please fill out the online Referral Form. Our referrals are good for 24 months. The customer does not have to be ready to buy or sell immediately. 

Referral Center will then register the referral with the broker and agent of your choice. If you do not have a broker preference, we have resources to help you choose a brokerage company that services the area of your lead. Usually, we can place a referral with a brokerage company the same day. The brokerage company should then contact the customer within 24 hours of us registering them.  The customer will NOT be contacted by Referral Center. Once the referral has been placed, you will receive a confirmation E-mail.

Following the placement of the referral, we enter the referral into our computer program.  By placing your referral into the system, we can accurately keep track of information concerning the referral, including referral acceptance and status updates.  Every 30 days, we request an update on the status of the referral from the broker.  As we gather information, it is added to our tracking system and the updates are E-mailed to you.

Follow-up with your referral customer is very important.  Proper communication with the customer will help increase the chances that your referral will run smoothly, and that you will be receiving a referral fee after closing.  To help with our goal of quality service for your referral lead, please contact your referral customer 2 or 3 days after you placed the referral with Referral Center. It helps to confirm they have been contacted by an agent and are satisfied with them.  If your referral customer is unhappy with the broker selection or services provided, please let us know. We may be able to help . . . but only if we know there is a problem.

Finally, after the transaction has closed, usually within 10-15 days, the broker will issue a referral check to Referral Center.  Once all of the information has been received, and we have the proper paperwork, we will issue your check.  You will receive an E-mail the same day we mail the check to you.

Referral Fee Example

Please note, we work on a 30% referral fee.  Our licensees cannot negotiate fees on behalf of our company.  Upon closing, once we receive the 30% referral fee (usually within 10-15 days), we do a 60/40 split, with YOU receiving 60%!

6% total commission; 3% on side referred = $6,000
30% Referral Fee = $1,800
60% Split = $1,080 to YOU!
